First place was up for grabs in all of the groups on Monday as teams were looking to get those byes to the quarterfinals and set up their bracket to at least advance to World Cup qualifying. Group C was up first and it was Uganda taking the lead early before the favorites Senegal recovered to start the second half. Uganda sent the game to overtime though and prevailed 73-70. In Group D, Mozambique had the lead by early and at halftime, but Nigeria had a good fourth quarter to avoid the upset and win 60-55. Group A was not going to a straight up battle for the spot, but Molly Kaiser and the Ivory Coast made sure that calculations would not be needed when they got the 82-74 win over Alexia Dizeko and Angola. The last game of the day was also a direct battle for first place and it ended up being the least competitive game by far when Mali took care of business early in a 75-49 win over Cameroon.
