The finals are set in Argentina after a pair of sweeps were completed. Obras defeated El Talar on Friday. Ferro made it an all-South conference matchup after finishing a sweep of Chanares, which had been undefeated in the North conference.
The week in Brazil started with two games on Wednesday. Mesquita fended off Sao Jose first and then Campinas won at Maringa. Sampaio defeated Cerrado on Thursday. Friday’s game was excellent as Santo Andre overcame a terrible start and 37 points from Jayla Crawford to defeat Mesquita. Araraquara defeated Uninassau on Saturday. Maringa finished the week with a win over Salvador on Sunday.
The quarterfinals started in Mexico with games on Friday and Saturday in the 2-1 format. Monterrey was tested twice by Tamaulipas, but won their home games for the sweep. Chihuahua had an easy win over Irapuato in the first game, but it was a little closer the next day before they advanced. Cancun won their first game, but San Luis Potosi earned a road split. Leon was in last place in the standings, but bounced back from a decisive loss to get the split with Aguascalientes.
The playoffs started in El Salvador this week. Salvadorenas defeated Metapan on Tuesday and Thursday even though Rachel Contreras had 20 rebounds for the visitors in the opener. San Salvador got wins over Santa Tecla on Wednesday and Friday as Adriana Rivas had 31 points in their road win.
Australia
All conferences were in action this week in NBL1 again. Zitina Aokuso had quite the weekend in the South conference for the Melbourne Tigers, following up a 32 point, 21 rebound game with a 12 point, 17 rebound, 10 assist triple-double. Keely Froling had the highest scoring game with 39 points for the Northern Force. Adrianna Smith continued a strong start to her professional career with 30 points for the Dandenong Rangers. Lil Dart had 30 points against them in their next game for an Eltham Wildcats win. Maddi Rocci returned to the Keilor Thunder after not making a WNBA roster and had a 21 point, 10 rebound, 11 assist triple-double as her teammate Isabelle Bourne added 31 points in a win.
In the West conference, Chloe Forster had an early 35 point game for the Warwick Senators. An overtime thriller had Sierra Moore score 36 points to secure the win for the Goldfields Giants while Sam Ashby had 34 points in the loss for the Perth Redbacks. Sara Puckett had 30 quick points as the Rockingham Flames put on a show in a win.
Courtney Woods had a 36 point game in a Townsville Flames loss in the North conference. Emily Kiser had 23 rebounds in a Rockhampton Cyclones loss. Eryn Fisher had 36 points in a Sydney Comets loss in the East conference.
The big individual performance in Big V came in an overtime game in the middle division. Vivien Saad had 23 rebounds, but the Craigieburn Eagles lost.
Games in North West Tasmania were on Tuesday again this week, including Burnie’s win over Penguin and Devonport’s win over Smithton. Nikki Parker had 33 points, but Ulverstone found themselves outmatched by Somerset. Kiara Stewart grabbed 22 rebounds in Wynyard’s loss to Latrobe.
Kazakhstan
The semifinals concluded this week as Astana finished a sweep of Barsy Atyrau on Sunday. Okzhetpes had battles with Ertis on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday, but did get the sweep, including withstanding 34 points from Dilnaz Yerkebay to win the opener in overtime.
Europe
Dyani Robinson had 30 points on Wednesday, but Kriva Palanka needed to wait until Sunday before they could clinch the championship in North Macedonia over Badel. Herlev defeated SISU in the last two games of Denmark’s finals to win the championship. Flamurtari finished a sweep of Partizani on Tuesday to win the championship in Albania. Brittany Dinkins had a 30 point game in the finals in Iceland. Iva Slonjsak had 30 points to keep her team in championship contention in Croatia. The series between Medvescak and second division team Pula, which was looking to grab their first division spot, started with Lea Aljinovic scoring 32 points in an easy win for the incumbents.
Chase for Promotion
Turgutlu and Kirklareli split their first two games in the finals of Turkey’s second division after the semifinals, which saw Sasha Goodlett’s promotion track record take a hit, concluded earlier in the week. The playoffs continue in Spain’s third division, but the championship series concluded with Maristas Coruna winning both games against GEiEG Pacisa. The playoffs started in Portugal’s second division with teams looking to join first place CDEFF in the top division. Lyric Cole had a 32 point game in group play. The playouts concluded in Italy’s second division as Moncalieri swept Rhodigium and Milano Stars edged Giussano in the deciding game. The semifinals and finals were played in Germany’s second division this weekend. Wings Leverkusen prevailed in overtime against Bochum for the championship and Gottingen defeated Heidelberg for third place.
