The knockout rounds started on Wednesday with the first four elimination games as the winners would advance to the quarterfinals, which would determine who would advance to World Cup qualifying. Mozambique had no trouble in the first game, rolling past Guinea 91-38. The next game looked set to trend in the same direction with Raneem Elgedawy and Egypt starting strong, but Maria Gakdeng and South Sudan had an incredible second half to win 75-65. Regular service resumed for second place teams in the next game when Senegal had an easy 80-37 win over Rwanda. Cameroon was also able to build a solid lead to close the day with an 85-64 win over Angola.
