Group A
Thursday was the final day of group play in this tournament and this group had their games first. Both contests would give the winners the two spots in the semifinals with the group winner being determined by which team had won the previous head-to-head matchup. Brazil had a tough start to the event, but had the chance to make that all meaningless if they could get revenge on Argentina from their recent loss. It was another grinder of a game in this section, but Bella Nascimento led the way in the 58-53 victory. Adut Bulgak and South Sudan were looking ready for a big step forward on the global stage with a first half lead. Emme Shearer was brilliant for New Zealand though and they stayed on the comeback trail, finally taking the lead in the fourth quarter to advance with an 82-74 win. They lost to Brazil in the last game, meaning that they finished second in the group.

Group B
The first game in this group was the only one out of the whole day that did not have any impact on the rest of the tournament. It ended up being quite exciting and Cierra Dillard put on one final show, but the Philippines prevailed 79-75 after holding on to their second half lead. The last game of the day would determine which team would win the group as both teams had already clinched semifinal spots yesterday. Canada got their biggest challenge yet against Mexico and the home fans, but their young backcourt led the way again and did not surrender their early lead, getting the 70-64 win as the remaining teams battle for the one spot awarded from this event.
