Arab Club Championship
The group stage continued on Tuesday and started with a fantastic game. Trista Hull had 34 points as Al Qadsiah built a big lead during parts of the first half while Alexis Mead had 35 points to help Al Qurain complete a comeback to get the win. Alexus Johnson had 34 points as Al Fatat secured the lead late to get the victory over Gezira. Sporting Alexandria stayed perfect after finishing the day with a win over Al Sharjah.
Wednesday’s first game was also great as Aliyah Mazyck’s 39 points did not end up being enough for Al Sharjah in a loss to Gezira. The two teams from Kuwait faced each other with Alexis Mead scoring 33 points to get Al Qurain the win despite Alexus Johnson scoring 51 points for Al Fatat. Al Ahly ended the day with a win over Al Qadsiah in another game that was close throughout.
Group play ended on Friday and the first game had Al Ahly pulling away late for a win over Al Qurain. Aliyah Mazyck had 38 points in the next game as Al Sharjah also secured the win late over Al Qadsiah. Sporting Alexandria’s perfect run continued with a big win over Al Fatat.
With the round-robin complete, the medal games were played on Saturday with three teams not playing another game. The bronze medal game was fantastic as Alexus Johnson signed off with a 46 point game for Al Fatat, which was able to hold off Gezira for the win. The Egyptian rivals met in the championship game and it also ended up being close. Sporting Alexandria brought in imports for a reason in their home game and Cierra Dillard’s 32 points were enough for the win over Al Ahly.
Uruguay
The finals were set after Thursday’s deciding game in the last semifinal series. Malvin prevailed at home over Aguada to advance. The championship series started on Monday and Carla Miculka’s 31 points got Malvin the opening win over Defensor Sporting. Yale defeated Tabare back on Saturday to start the consolation championship series.
El Salvador
There was another full week of games, starting on Tuesday with Yenifer Jimenez delivering 45 points only to see Monsenor Romero fall short against Salvadorenas. Santa Tecla got an easy win over Capitalinas on Wednesday and Santa Ana defeated Salvadorenas on Thursday. San Salvador stayed perfect on Friday with a win over Santa Tecla. Monsenor Romero also lost to Santa Ana on Saturday despite another 39 points from Jimenez. Emer Nichols had 36 points and 24 rebounds on Sunday, but Ahuachapan remained winless after losing to Santa Tecla. There were two games on Monday as Santa Ana defeated Santa Tecla and San Salvador defeated Capitalinas.
Puerto Rico
The season started on Saturday with a pair of games as there are the same number of teams this year, but Fajardo acquired Yauco’s franchise rights. It was not a great start for them at home as they fell to Caguas. It was also a tough start for defending champions Moca, which lost to Hatillo at home. On Sunday, Juana Diaz was not close to full strength yet as they lost at Ponce. Hatillo could not keep their momentum, losing at Santurce on Monday.
Netherlands
The season started on Saturday with the Supercup, a battle between a recent power and an ambitious rising club. Grasshoppers had won the last five editions of this event and the last four league titles. United is fielding a strong roster this season and it was a promising start for them as they won the first trophy of the campaign.
