The traditional season opening event took place this weekend with all of the games in one location, which was made easier with the return of a full-sized league this year. On Saturday, Costa Masnaga drew a very tough opponent in their return to this level, losing to Mariam Coulibaly and Schio 98-40 as Alyssa Crokett made her professional debut. Matilde Villa and Alyssa Ustby helped Venezia bounce back from a tough midweek loss with a 92-50 win over Brixia, which got a professional debut from Yevheniia Putra. The last game of the day was excellent as Evita Herminjard was brilliant for San Martino di Lupari in their 84-75 win over Roseto, getting professional debuts from Jenna Guyer, Promise Keshi, and Tilda Sjokvist in the process.
Noelani Cornfield made her professional debut in Sunday’s opener in Battipaglia’s 75-54 loss to Derthona. Julianna Okosun and Lani White led Sesto San Giovanni as they returned to domestic league play and got the 94-71 win. Amaya Battle and Hannah Stuelke made their professional debuts for Broni, which was led by Vanesa Jasa and Anna Togliani. It was almost a dream start for Livorno at this level as Qadashah Hoppie had a great game and Laura Toffali made her professional debut. Campobasso refused to let their home event get spoiled though and they held on to a 57-55 win.
