African Zone 4 Qualifiers

Four club teams played a round-robin in Kinshasa to determine which two teams would earn automatic spots in the continental championship later this year. Makomeno and CNSS were playing in their home country of the Democratic Republic of Congo while FAP and Overdose of Cameroon were visiting. The two players that fit our usual roster reference criteria are Lucy Ibeh, who played at TCU, and Deijah Blanks, who played at UC Irvine, so there will be no separate listing.

Tuesday was the final day of the tournament and when the teams from the same countries would face each other as no team entered the day securing one of the automatic qualification places yet. The first half of the battle of Cameroonian teams still kept all of the possibilities on the table, but Raissa Mogoun and FAP had a strong second half to get the 68-59 win, finishing undefeated to grab one berth, leaving Overdose on the outside. The two teams playing at home in the Democratic Republic of Congo concluded the round-robin and Makomeno would need a massive win to completely flip the tiebreaker to their favor. They had the lead early, but Marlene Ngobeleza and CNSS eventually seized control for a 77-58 win to take the other spot.
