This group opened play again on Sunday and the Dominican Republic had the bye in the first day and then had to open into what could be the critical game for them in trying to advance to the next round. El Salvador had the advantage of getting the chance to build some rhythm in the opener despite a blowout loss and started well behind Hillary Martinez, but Cesarina Capellan was fantastic in a 61-59 comeback win for the Dominican Republic. Argentina had the tough task of opening with the two toughest opponents and they lost to Canada 71-48.

Mexico was the last team to start their tournament and was looking to make a splash as they faced hosts Chile. Having a group of emerging players from the college season helped as Mariana Valenzuela and Gabriela Jaquez led the way in a 76-59 win after Jovanka Ljubetic and Chile had the better start. Colombia briefly had the lead early before the United States dominated the game and won 80-43.
