Site Introduction

Welcome to overseas.valhalla.basketball a new site covering women’s basketball around the world. We have spent fifteen years writing about various aspects of overseas basketball for several different websites and are consolidating some of that work here. We also have the valhalla.basketball website that specifically covers women’s professional basketball in the San Francisco Bay Area.

One of the first areas of coverage this summer will be national team play as all four continental confederations are contesting their championships this year to continue the qualification process for next year’s World Cup. Once the fall rolls around, some of the more prominent national leagues from around the world will begin play and we will provide focused coverage of them. We also cover the club competitions that FIBA runs for teams from different countries to face each other.

There is almost always something going on in the world of women’s basketball so we will publish a weekly column that includes items that do not fit into any of our other content. That will include lighter coverage of some other noteworthy leagues and highlight some incredible team and individual performances.

We aim to provide coverage that interests fans of all kinds, from those have followed women’s basketball for years to those who are new to the sport. We will always try to provide context to those who may just be learning about the competitions that are included in our articles, especially trying to make things clearer for those who have traditionally only followed North American sports.
