The EuroLeague regular season started with most of the round on Wednesday as the teams are divided into four groups. They will play a double round-robin with the top three teams in each group advancing and the last place team dropping down to EuroCup. Results carry over to the next round, so games will matter even when teams know that they are advancing.
Group A
Most of the games during the opening week were on Wednesday, including this group’s opener in Vilnius. Athinaikos had ambitions after getting their spot in this tournament, but it was a rough start for them as they lost 103-65 to Nausia Woolfolk and Kibirkstis in the biggest blowout of the day. The other game ended being the closest of the day as it took overtime for Merritt Hempe and Mariona Ortiz to help Zaragoza to edge Trinity San Antonio and Landes 76-75.
