The medal games were played on Sunday with the championship game also awarding the winner a spot in the next year’s World Cup alongside Germany, Belgium, the United States, and Australia. South Sudan looked set to finish their magical run with a bronze medal early, but Senegal raced back to take the lead in the fourth quarter. Delicia Washington helped South Sudan do just enough though and got the 66-65 win. Mali had the better start in the championship game, but Nigeria soon looked like the four-time defending champions. After a tied score at halftime, they took the lead in the second half and got the 78-64 win with Ezinne Kalu leading them in scoring.
