The championship series started on Thursday with top seed Townsville welcoming Perth. The visitors had the edge in the first half, but the hosts grabbed the lead after halftime and were led by Courtney Woods and Miela Sowah in an 88-79 win. Perth now must win at home on Sunday to extend the series.
