Group B
Guatemala was the last team to play their first game in this competition when they opened up Thursday’s action. It was a tough start for the team even though they did cut the deficit to 60-53 in their loss to Panama. They will now need a win over Mexico on Friday to force a tiebreaker where they would at least be able finish second.

Group A
The first game in this group was between undefeated El Salvador and winless Costa Rica and there was no surprise that El Salvador won 90-51. The other game would determine which team would advance to the semifinals and which team would drop down to the consolation bracket. Hosts Nicaragua took the lead early and Kiyomi McMiller made sure that they would advance in an 87-68 win. Nelly Rapalo and Ankara Reichle led Honduras, which will get the bye to the fifth place game.
