Group A
Thursday’s action opened in this group with a matchup between teams that had lost their opening games. The game went as expected with Turkey leading for the entire game after their initial basket, resulting in an easy 91-67 win over Switzerland. That result meant that France could be the first team to secure a spot in the next stage with a win over Greece. After a close first quarter, they started to build a lead on their way to a 92-56 win and that top spot in the group. The winner of Saturday’s game between Greece and Turkey will determine which team will join them.

Group B
The first game of the day in this group had Lithuania looking to carry on the momentum from a big win while Serbia was hoping to bounce back from a loss. Serbia led for most of the first half, but it was tied at the break and then Laura Juskaite and Lithuania surged to a 74-63 win in the second half. Italy looked to have a win sewed up early, which would send them and Lithuania through to the next round, but had to hold on late for a 77-66 win against Jessica Shepard and company to settle this group already before the final day.

Group C
This first game in this group was delayed due to technical issues, but the late tipoff did not slow down the hosts Czechia, which more than doubled the scoring that Montenegro could manage in an 89-44 win. Czechia will automatically secure a spot in World Cup qualifying regardless of their results in this tournament due to winning one of the pre-qualifying events last year. The delay meant that the other game in the group closed the day and it was Belgium against first-time qualifiers Portugal. The defending champions had a single-digit lead for most of the first half, but eventually pulled away for an 81-52 win.
