Jairis ended the day with a 65-53 win over Avenida to give themselves a cushion to start the playoffs with homecourt advantage. Valencia defeated Joventut Badalona 83-57 in Sunday’s opener. Zaragoza won the next game 85-63 over Gernika. That left the visitors in precarious position after their two Basque Country neighbors met with Araski getting the 76-66 win over Ibaeta to pull out of the danger zone on the tiebreaker. The Madrid rivalry game could have seen Leganes putting even more distance between the playoff field and the bottom half of the standings, but they lost 61-50 to Estudiantes. Mariam Coulibaly kept Girona all alone in the lead as they defeated Sedis 88-64.
