The season-opening event between the winners of EuroLeague and EuroCup was played on Wednesday in Mersin. It was an even more highly-anticipated game this year due to there being no other meeting between the two teams who have driven the dialogue in Turkish basketball in recent years to meet with this many foreign players on the court. Fenerbahce’s depth was impressive as they left with the 79-71 win, giving Lauren Betts her overseas debut in the process.
