Americas

Action continued in Puerto Rico on Tuesday and Talia Van Oelhoffen had 33 points for a Ponce team trying to move up to a playoff spot, but Imani McGee-Stafford had 21 rebounds to secure a win for Juana Diaz. Santurce’s winning streak continued against Isabela ahead of a key game for the top seed. Manati kept a gap between the teams set to get homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs and the rest of the field with a win over Carolina on Wednesday.

There were no games on Thursday, but a busy Friday started with Asia Taylor scoring 31 points to get Caguas a critical win over Ponce in the race for a playoff spot. Isabela got the win over Juana Diaz and then it was the big game with Moca ending Santurce’s long winning streak and giving themselves a shot at the top seed. Yauco needed a win on Saturday to keep their playoff hopes alive, but surrendered 33 points to Okako Adika in Hatillo’s win. It was a busy Sunday with three games as Caguas grabbed their playoff spot with a win over Hatillo. Santurce just managed to get the win over Juana Diaz and clinch the top seed. Isabela climbed above Manati in the standings with a win to close the day. Caguas got the win over eliminated Yauco on Monday.

The first double round-robin was completed in El Salvador with the second half starting too for two teams. Santa Tecla defeated Salvadorenas on Tuesday and then San Salvador kept Capitalinas winless on Wednesday. Thursday’s game was close, but Santa Ana got the win over Ahuachapan. There was no game on Friday, but Ahuachapan’s tough week continued on Saturday with a loss to San Salvador, which got 24 rebounds from Anisleidy Galindo. There were two games on Sunday, finishing with Salvadorenas breezing past Capitalinas. Dairis Tornell had 31 points to lead Santa Ana past Santa Tecla earlier.

It was another busy week in Argentina and Luciana Delabarba who had the highest scoring game with 31 points in a big win in the South conference.

New Zealand

The Poukai had an incredible scoring game in the reserve matchup on Friday, but the Whai got 31 points from Hannah Hank in the main game to get the win. The Queens edged the Hoiho in Saturday’s reserve game and then the main game featured an explosive first half, but a much more defensive second half with the Hoiho getting the victory. The Whai swept both games against the Kahu on Sunday.

Around Europe

Another cross-national competition started this week with the first games in the Adriatic. Some more leagues also started play as Olga Alekseychyk had a 27 point, 13 rebound, 12 assist triple-double in her opener in Ukraine. The league in Cyprus also started and Dontavia Waggoner had 30 points in the opener and then Panagiota Themistokleous had 31 rebounds in a loss the next day. Olivia Wikstrom had a 38 point, 21 rebound game in the cup in Malta.

Chase for Promotion

Dre’Una Edwards continued to lead her team in Turkey’s second division with a 32 point, 21 rebound effort this time and Tommisha Lampkin had a 21 rebound game. The opening weekend of Serbia’s second division finished with a 39 point game from Natasa Bucevac. The second tier in Portugal started this weekend and Carolina Duarte and Vitoria Dias had 30 point games, but Summer Pahl surpassed that with a 32 point effort. Inja Butina recorded 15 steals in a game in Iceland’s second division. Marta Miscenko had a 32 point game in Germany’s second division and Tonia Dolle led the other half of the league with a 30 point game.

Individual Performances

Julianna Okosun had a 26 rebound game in Sweden. Mari Stewart had a 32 point game in Norway and then Stine Austgulen had 32 points in a win that saw Rebecca Demeke score 30 points in the loss. Taylor Langan had a 19 point, 13 rebound, 10 assist triple-double in Portugal. A wild overtime game in Kosovo had Paige Powell providing 39 points and 20 rebounds with De’Myla Brown adding 31 points in the win. Shaniya Jones had 43 points in a losing effort in another game. The round in Iceland started with Brittany Dinkins scoring 30 points in the win, offsetting a 34 point game from Re’Shawna Stone in the process. Another thriller ended the week as Marta Hermida poured in 49 points to secure a win. Stephanie McBride grabbed 23 rebounds to secure an overtime win in Finland. Jelena Brkicic had 30 points in Croatia then a big win included 32 points from E’Lease Stafford, 32 points and 12 steals from Kiara Jackson, and 10 steals from Milica Sirovina. Pia Jurhar had 21 rebounds in Austria.
