Both quarterfinals in Kazakhstan finished this week as Caspiy avoided the sweep on Thursday courtesy of 33 points from Vita Cherkasa. Ertis got the win on Friday though to advance. Barsy Atyrau took the lead with a win on Saturday and then eliminated Turan with another win on Sunday.
The finals are set in South Korea after the Blue Minx got one more win over Hana Bank on Wednesday.
Shanxi tied up the finals in China on Friday when they won Game 2, but Sichuan took the lead again on Sunday to move within a game of the championship.
Americas
The week in Mexico started with a Wednesday-Thursday series that Aguascalientes swept against Leon. Chihuahua swept Irapuato in one Thursday-Friday series while Tamaulipas earned a split with San Luis Potosi. Monterrey swept their Saturday-Sunday series with Cancun.
There were two games in Brazil on Wednesday as Cerrado held off Sao Jose and then Campinas won a shootout against Santo Andre. Maringa defeated Uninassau in Thursday’s game. Sampaio won at Mesquita on Friday. Maringa won again on Saturday, this time at Salvador. There were two games on Sunday, starting with Araraquara defeating Santo Andre and finishing with Sampaio’s win over Cerrado.
There were two games in El Salvador on Tuesday as San Salvador breezed past Santa Ana. Salvadorenas lost again, this time to Santa Tecla, which got 21 rebounds from Genesis Zavaleta. Monsenor Romero won at Capitalinas on Wednesday. Rachel Contreras had 21 rebounds on Thursday, but Metapan lost to Ahuachapan. Santa Tecla won Friday’s game at Monsenor Romero. Anisleidy Galindo had 23 rebounds in Sab Salvador’s win over Ahuachapan on Saturday. Salvadorenas bounced back on Sunday with a win over Santa Ana. Monica Aristondo had 38 points and 12 steals in Metapan’s win over Capitalinas.
Australia
The North conference of NBL1 started play this week so all conferences are in action now. Jessica McDowell-White had a 24 point, 10 rebound, 12 assist triple-double for the Southern Districts Spartans while Isabel Palmer had a 31 point game for the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.
Dallas Loughridge had the highest scoring game in the South conference with 34 points for the Casey Cavaliers and Lou Brown had a 32 point game for the Frankston Blues. Nicole Munger had a 12 point, 11 rebound, 10 assist triple-double for the Newcastle Falcons in the East conference. Jess Simons had 34 points to close Central conference play for the Forestville Eagles.
A fun overtime game in the West conference saw Bridgette Rettstatt’s 34 point, 32 rebound effort not get the Perry Lakes Hawks over the line. Esmeralda Morales had 41 points to secure the win for the Lakeside Lightning after scoring 32 points in a loss on the previous day. Sam Ashby had a 31 game for the Perth Redbacks.
The most exciting game in Big V this week was in the top division as the Warrandyte Venom defeated the Bulleen Boomers in a wild overtime game. The big individual battle was in the lowest division as Emmie Gardner had 23 rebounds in the Wallan Panthers win while Deja McKinney had 33 points in the loss for the Surf Coast Chargers.
Games in North West Tasmania this week were on Friday as Ulverstone defeated Wynyard and Devonport defeated Somerset. Ava McDonald scored 35 points for Penguin, but they lost to Smithton. Charlotte Febey scored 32 points in a win for Latrobe over Burnie, which got 31 points from Millie Baker.
Europe
Ilirija tied the finals in Slovenia, but Celje won the deciding game for their 15th consecutive championship. Buducnost finished a sweep of Sea Stars on Tuesday to win the championship in Montenegro. Kiki Jefferson had 31 points to force a deciding game in the finals in Kosovo. Montana swept Rilski Sportist to win the championship in Bulgaria and Beroe Stara Zagora swept the bronze medal series.
Nia Clouden had 41 points, but Fribourg is one game from elimination in Switzerland’s finals. Dorian Dahan Sujic and Aliyah Maczyk took turns recording 35 point games as Crvena zvezda won the first two games of the finals in Serbia. Laila Lawrence had 35 points in Finland, but Nokia was eliminated from championship consideration and then lost to Torpan Pojat in the bronze medal game. On the other side of the bracket, Lauren Heard had a 29 point, 11 rebound, 10 assist triple-double in the clinching game and then started the finals with a 16 point, 10 rebound, 10 assist performance.
Lauren Van Kleunen had 31 points and her teammate Shalonda Winton had a 17 point, 10 rebound, 11 assist triple-double in Luxembourg’s semifinals. In the relegation group, Julie Mangen had 34 points to secure an overtime win for Amicale Steesel, which took the top spot followed by Musel Pikes and Les Sangliers Wooltz. Jennie Simms had a 20 point, 21 rebound, 11 assist triple-double, but her team could not advance in Israel. Molly Kaiser had 30 points in Iceland, but her team was eliminated as Keishana Washington had 39 points. The start of the semifinals included a 31 point game from Brittany Dinkins and a 34 point game from Amandine Toi. Kerli Haas had 32 points in Estonia to help her team advance to the finals. Eliska Hamzova had a 12 point, 14 rebound, 10 assist triple-double to send her team to the finals in the Czech league.
Chase for Promotion
The regular season concluded in Turkey’s second division and Zorlu Koleji Samsun finished at the top of a four-way tie to grab the automatic promotion spot. Celta lost a game so Mallorca is now all alone in first place in Spain’s second division. Dan Dacian Bucuresti defeated Oradea to win Romania’s second division. LSU Kaunas won Lithuania’s second division on Sunday. Earlier, Lina Mikeleviciene had a 22 rebound game and young Urte Gureviciute had a 31 point game. Leilani Kapinus had a 31 point game and a 24 point, 15 rebound, 13 assist triple-double for Fjolnir, but Jada Guinn helped Hamar/Thor clinch the final series with a 33 point game in Iceland.
In Portugal’s second division, Halle Idowu had 21 rebounds, Rafaela Henriques had 30 points, and Tiffany Reynolds had 32 points. The postseason continued in Italy’s second division and Antonia Peresson had a 22 rebound game in an overtime loss. A battle to start the playoffs in Germany’s second division had Cecelia Collins score 32 points in the win as Claire Signatovich had 30 points in the loss.
