Monday’s action started in this group as the final day of group play involved simultaneous tipoffs in the event that the results of both games would affect each other, although that only ended up being the case in one group. In this group, one of the games would determine which team took first place and an automatic spot in the quarterfinals. Belgium took the lead early and Emma Meesseman was back at her best in their 80-68 win over Australia to get that bye. The other game would determine the final team to advance from this group and Puerto Rico had a solid start as Arella Guirantes found her scoring touch. Turkey built a lead in the middle of the game and had the advantage going into the final quarter, but Puerto Rico came back and grabbed the 75-71 victory.

Dorka Juhasz and Hungary had the lead for most of the game, but did have to recover their rhythm in the second half again to get past Park Ji-Hyun and South Korea 82-73. The other game had no bearing on the rest of the tournament, but Gabby Williams and France still put on a clinic in a 111-56 win over Nigeria, building more chemistry ahead of two days without a game before the quarterfinals.

The winners of both games in this group would advance with the head-to-head result in their previous game determining who would get first place and the spot in the quarterfinals. The results would also determine who would prevail in the tiebreaker for the final spot between the two losing teams. Iyana Martin helped Spain take the lead early as the progress in the other game was indicating that they would need the win to advance. Japan fought back multiple times, but lost 79-59. Frieda Buhner and Germany pretty quickly ended any suspense in the other game, rolling to an 83-58 win over Mali. Their loss to Spain meant that Spain got first place and Japan’s win over Mali made them the third-place team.

China took the lead early against Italy in a game that would determine bracket placement for the two teams and ended up getting the 71-51 win.
